8th Grade Parents – Culmination Dues

CALLING ALL 8TH GRADE PARENTS!

This is a very exciting time of year for our 8th grade students. Our goal is to work together with you to ensure that your child meets the criteria to participate in the culmination ceremony and 8th grade activities.Culmination/activity criteria have been provided to all families through a variety of means such as the Portola Student Handbook, culmination student and parent meetings and culmination eligibility letters based on student progress as of the fall semester.

The requirements for participation in 8th grade activities are managed by Friends of Portola, the school’s PTO, in partnership with the 8th grade Steering Committee.

There are a variety of activities planned for ELIGIBLE 8th graders by our 8th grade Steering Committee. Eligibility checks for 8th grade activities are done at the 10-week and 20-week in the fall and the 10 week  in the spring.   For students who are eligible and plan to participate in any of the listed events, an activity fee is required.  Please note that this year we have two different packages with fees of $75 and $155.  Some of the activities include an 8th grade picnic with catered food, inflatables and games, an exclusive 8th grade spring formal dance with catered food, hired dj and photobooth, and Jr. Grad Night at Universal Studios, which will not include transportation this year.  Please know that Universal Studios does not accept season passes at this event and special rules apply specifically for this event.
